High speed rotary machines with appropriate colour code disc pads are essential to maintain shine on floors. Polish must be reapplied at high traffic areas to maintain an even shine across surface areas.
Steps Involved For Standard Hard Floor Restoration
Stripping: Wet or dry stripping can be done using floor care machines with multiple pads, discs and brushes. The purpose of stripping a floor is to remove all the old floor finish off the floor.
Grinding: The objective of grinding is to level and smoothen the surface.
Cleaning: Before applying polish the floor is washed to remove residue from the stripping and grinding processes. Depending on the quantum of residue, this is done using a non-abrasive neutral PH (7-8.5) detergent cleanser or water, agitated with a scrubber.
Polishing : Polishing is undertaken using floor care machines with varying pad types. Polishing provides high gloss on marble and other calcareous stones without building a film on top.
Pros of Sealing: Certain features such as slip resistance and the ability to inhibit penetration of dirt, food, and beverage stains, make sealing an attractive option.
Cons of Sealing: A major disadvantage is the surface abrasion, expense, and nuisance of chemical stripping typically required to remove sealers when their appearance becomes undesirable due to discoloration, spotting, and uneven wear and tear.
